The Most Remarkable and Famous Mexican Artists of the 20th Century
From the beginning of the 20th century famous Mexican artists - painters, sculptors and photographers - contributed to world's art a row of visual masterpieces. In the most cases the modern art pieces of Mexican painters interpreted the social, economic and political events creating in such way the unique spirit and style of contemporary Mexican art.
Most Mexican painters like, for instance, Jose Maria Velasco have created the series of ideological inspired paintings and focused in his works on various styles and themes reflecting the emotional and social status of his close encirclement. The style of Velasco can be characterized as the unique combination of different techniques he learnt during his whole career as a painter. His most called-for works are "The Landscape of Mexico's Valley" and "Chimalpa Estate".
Among other Mexican artists of the 20th century should be mentioned a cartoonist Jose Clemente Orozco whose works can be found in legendary publications of that time - El Hijo de Ahuizote. Later he would contribute to the modern Mexican art history as a talented water color painter specializing in techniques he practiced through creating murals.
As for prominent sculptors and illustrators of the previous century you can't miss learning about the work of Jose Luis Cuevas who is one of the greatest Mexican artists. This painter managed to break the traditional definition of muralism and divided this trend to "before" and "after" with his spectacular art pieces.
