Western_ArtHistory of the Western Art: Famous American Artists of the 20th Century

The American West art collection is a special interest to learn. The art pieces classified to this trend are highly appreciated by the art buyers and artists themselves thanks to their cultural heritage and legacy left by such well-known representatives, the most famous American artists as Georgia O'Keefe and Henry Farny. It is complicated to overestimate their contribution to the history of the Western American art. More than a century critics, artists and art collectors find the pieces created by the Western American painters as the examples of the late 19th and 20th centuries' artwork.

Undoubtedly, Georgia O'Keeffe stays one of the most recognized and famous American artists. This talented female painter had a remarkable unique signature and subject matter reflected in all her artworks. She managed to depict in colors banal botanic motives like flower ornaments in a creative and memorable way. Her works differ from idealistic depiction of the American Western culture and her style can be called more modern and abstract than classical. Most her pieces were created in Taos in New Mexico where right now there is an art school named after her.

Another remarkable artist of the new wave of the Western American art is Henry Farny who originated from France and emigrated to live in the United States. He became famous thanks to the highly-detailed style he chose to depict the portraits of the Native Americans, showing peacefulness of these people. It was untraditional to demonstrate such emotions of the Native Americans those days and that is why Farny's art pieces became a sort of a creative revolutionary manifest most modern Western American artists follow nowadays.
